For over 115 years, the Swiss Lung Association has been helping people with lung diseases and promoting healthy air and lungs. 700 staff in 18 cantonal Lung Associations provide advice and support to affected individuals and their relatives. The national office in Bern (Swiss Lung Association) coordinates the activities of the Lung Associations and represents the organisation and its members to specialist doctors, insurance companies and various authorities.

The primary purpose of the Swiss Lung Association’s Research Fund is to provide financial support for research activities that are significant to the Lung Association’s mission and are associated with the prevention and treatment of lung diseases and respiratory disorders.

This job vacancy is primarily for a working student or for Ukrainians with the protection status “S”. We are hiring immediately, or by appointment, a

Research Secretary (40-50%)

You will be responsible for the independent administration of the research fund.

About the role

  • Liaising between the Committee President, Committee members, researchers and the office of the Swiss Lung Association
  • Managing contracts and payments
  • Administration of ongoing projects (project reports, evaluations) through to their completion
  • Preparing statistics for the Annual Report and Committee meetings
  • Collaborating on and supporting the development of Research Fund (PLuS) content
  • Organising Committee meetings, taking minutes and carrying out various coordination activities
  • Preparing and publishing calls for proposals, handling applications and evaluations by the Research Fund
  • Correspondence with applicants

About you

  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree
  • Initial work experience in a research-focused environment
  • Knowledge of the (medical) research landscape and the procedure for allocating grants an advantage
  • Ability to work independently, good organisational skills and a passion for coordination activities
  • Meticulous working style
  • Professional manner in dealing with a wide range of contact partners
  • Outstanding spoken and written English; other languages (French, German) advantageous
