We are seeking the Head of Metabolism who
will lead the department within
this global CRO organisation.
We are looking for someone with
well-developed scientific and operational skills in plant metabolism and a good
knowledge of animal and in vitro metabolism studies. The head of metabolism is responsible that the department delivers exceptional
customer results. This person requires the ability to
identify opportunities for commercial growth, and the ability to manage a
high-performing team.
The Head of Metabolism will help IES in creating and
maintaining a real cohesion within the group and across different departments and
sites. This position is suitable for somebody with scientific and operational experience in
metabolism work within the CRO environment. However, this role could be also
for a team-player who gained metabolism and leadership
experience in a multi-national or academic organisation. The position is for an individual who wishes to progress their own career
and make a significant impact on the organisation they would be joining.
To have full responsibility for leading a highly functional department of metabolism
To oversee, train and mentor other study directors and
technical staff during the planning and conduction of studies.
To plan and
conduct, technical and scientific support of studies in the Metabolism area as
well as for the interpretation, evaluation, documentation and reporting.
To have responsibility for compliance of safety within the team.
To ensure consistent delivery of high
quality work, timely and within the financial goals..
To build and maintain a strong pipeline
of work through acquiring projects from both existing and new clients.
To achieve the financial & budgetary
targets across the Metabolism function.
To attend meetings and workshops to keep
up-to-date with scientific & industry trends, also to represent the
organization as a leading scientific employer of choice.
To effectively set-up and develop a
scientific network to establish a robust network of interested stakeholders.
To train & develop department
employees in both technical, scientific &
commercial skills.
To always provide excellent service to
the customer in terms of quality and quantity of work, delivering the projects
on time and on budget.
To regularly update stakeholders
regarding the project status.
To identify and expand existing accounts
by offering follow on studies (projects), working with, and supporting, where
necessary, the Business Development team.
To assume responsibility for the
maintenance and compliance of equipment across the Metabolism department.
To keep informed the reporting line
manager regarding activities, achievements, projects' status, issues and any
other key points related to the projects, business or human resources.
Educated to MSc or PhD level as a minimum in plant physiology, animal
metabolism, or any related biological or life science study.
Proven experience within a CRO environment, the agrochemical industry or plant research
organisation is essential.
Proven experience of working under GLP
(Good Laboratory Practice).
Proven leadership experience preferably
in an international organisation.
Strong business acumen and client focus.
Experience of working
with and managing a budget, commercial drive.
Fluent English speaker, any additional
European language is a plus
High quality communicator with
exceptional stakeholder management capabilities with the ability to deliver
clients a high quality and tailored service.
Ability to work alongside a management
team, under sometimes
conflicting time-lines.
